Basso & Brooke

Many an eager face waited at the doors for this show, which proved to be throbbing with excitement in Basso & Brooke's brave move to clash bright and bold prints. One can finally look forward to winter weather, when the colours in this collection are set to brighten up the season and give the lively edge we all crave in darker months.

Amanda Wakeley has surpassed herself in this sumptuous offering for Autumn/Winter 2010.
This collection took inspiration from the works of J.W Waterhouse, evidence of which was found in the colour palette, which predominantly used charcoals and pebbles, accented with nude, ruby and midnight tones.
This was the collection, that for me, provided elegance for an ageless woman. Whether 16 or 60, Amanda Wakeley gave a common ground in allowing one to just enjoy being a woman. Timeless pieces for the ageless woman.

Today gave us treats from Burberry, Ashish and Nathan Jenden to name but a few.
Burberry unsurprisingly wowed their audience with buyers totting up figures in their head within seconds of the models hitting the catwalk. Ashish donned his normal glamourous sportswear not shy of a sequin or two. Ashish saw the lucky few students that made it into the show, swoon and build up hopes for the christmas list of 2010.

Oh, how we love a bit o' Viv, and my goodness, she wows us once again with her fearless approach to classical tailoring, twisting it into the modern.
Matthew Williamson, also eagerly anticipated, proved a little more tame than usual, but as always livened up the third day with is infamous vibrancy.

Day two thrilled us with exciting graphic prints from Mary Katrantzou and earthly wonders from Unique as highlights to an overtly visually stimulating day.

Day one explodes with the first show from Paul Costello and his heavy influences based on the assassination of Jesse James.
Other highlights included Bora Aksu and his eclectic mix of inspiration, and Sass and Bide, who once again used perfectly placed chaos to create a collection of deliciously useful tailoring.

LFWoaaaarrr!

London Fashion Week arrives. A Much anticipated event that leaves its mark on the office workers to the party girls, London Fashion Week offers us the best in that aspirational world of cool, style and glamour.
It is not for the feint hearted however. We see the fashion elite stride through Somerset House with an elegance that most young girls longed for when practicing that 'walk' in Mum's oversized stilettos.
Its a world away, but I'm here witnessing the bubble that consumes Fashion mags from Vogue to the glanced at supplement of the sunday telegraph. The notebooks, cameras and sunglasses amongst the hustle and bustle of enviable taste. Coffees and cigarettes in constant supply. The occasional faces of wildly dressed women and men glance up from steamy coffee cups with projectile voices used to being noticed, learned in how to raise yourself out of the crowd.
The BFC show space is packed. Beautiful people gleefully knocking back Chambord with the likes of Christopher Biggins fraternising with a 6'2 man wearing mainly coconuts. Its surreal and fantastic and yet all about its accessibility and relation to the everyday. Though many seem relieved to have escaped the rain and be in the shelter, for some the experience is more than apparent in the joyous mingling and happy chatting that fills the room.
Welcome to Fashion Week, here is Autumn/Winter 2010.
